Gender Equity Policy (GEP) Report launched

After a three years of intensive research the final report for our study investigating the impact of gender equity policies (GEP) in the Canadian, German and UK film industry is out and I’m not going to lie – its a sobering read. The pace of change is at best glacial and uneven. Most current policy interventions show little to no evidence of making an impact. If this report is not a clarion call for a massive self-reflection on the part of policy-makers (and those of us who might have once believed that policy-based interventions were the key to success) then I don’t know what is.

If we just drew a straight line into the future based on the rate of change between 2005 and 2020, men won’t comprise 50% of the key creatives in Germany until some time between 2041–2044; in the UK sometime between 2085–2088; and in Canada basically never with a projected equity period not occurring until 2215–2218

Many people brought this work together: Skadi Loist, Elizabeth Prommer, Doris Ruth Eikhof, Amanda Coles, Pete Jones, Aresh Dadlani, Kevin Guyan, Martha Ehrich, Sophie Radziwill and others.
